What do your dreams mean? Start decoding them with a dream journal!

"When we are asleep in this world, we are awake in another."

― Salvador Dalí

According to Edgar Cayce, dream interpretation is all about understanding the dreamer and not just the dream; this critical principle will provide insight into the dream and what it may mean for the dreamer. By taking the time to get to know the dreamer, you can start to piece together a more accurate interpretation of their dream.

Dream interpretation is a process of self-discovery where the dreamer finds their true identity. The primary purpose for dreams in ancient times was to help heal and balance oneself on an inner level, so it's important not to get too far off course when interpreting yours!

Ever had a dream that you couldn't shake? Or that a lucid, insightful dream feels seems to have a meaningful message. Many believe dreams are windows into our subconscious minds, offering valuable insight into our daily lives. By keeping a dream journal and interpreting your dreams, you can begin to uncover the hidden meanings and messages they may contain. If you're new to dream interpretation, this article is for you! We'll start with a basic overview of how to interpret your dreams and some tips on getting started. So grab your notebook and get ready for some bedtime dreaming!

Movie plots are often similar to our dreams and have a common structure that can be helpful when trying to understand your dream movie plot. The brain has structured these movies/plays with a beginning buildup, followed by something scary happening, then building up again until finally reaching its conclusion.

When you're having trouble understanding your dreams, it might be helpful to think about the structure.

LOCATION:
  • Where does the dream take place?

  • How do you feel about that place?

  • What emotions arise within you as you think about it?

  • Does it have any relationship with a real place in your life?

CHARACTERS:
  • Who are the characters?

  • How are you presented?

  • Who is the antagonist?

  • How do you feel about each of those people (including the presentation of yourself)?

  • How do they relate to parts of your personality or to people you know?

PLOT:
  • How does the plot unfold? There is usually a beginning (where the story is established and begins to build), a middle (where a crisis peaks), and an end (where the crisis gets resolved though sometimes dreams don't provide the solution and end in the middle of the story because it is up to you to provide the resolution).

For some people, dreams can be very literal and easy to understand; however, there are several ways to interpret dreams, and sometimes figuring it out can be daunting. Sometimes messages are hidden in symbolism or metaphors representing something happening in your waking life. If you think the dream contains hidden messages, don't hesitate to ask for help deciphering them!

Dreams can be fascinating and fun to explore once you understand their symbolism and metaphors. In future articles, we will delve deeper into dream interpretation, but for now, start keeping a dream journal to help decode your subconscious mind. Be sure to pay attention to recurring themes and symbols in your dreams – these could be messages from your subconscious or even clues about what you should do next in life. Have you ever noticed messages in your dreams? What did they mean to you? Let us know in the comments!
